BLOG- After finishing the film, what emotions do you feel? What do you think Anna Deavere Smith was trying to do in creating this piece?

I think Anna Deavere Smith did a good job portraying all of the different characters and how they felt about what had happened. After watching all of the different clips, I understand how each of the different groups of people react and how they think of each other. Watching the film was very confusing because of going back and forth between the Jewish people and the Black people. I would have a thought about something and then it would change depending on what the next person would say. Anna Deavere Smith did a good job on changing your perspective throughout the film. She wanted to make you think one thing and then once you find out something else it would change your mind. Finding out different information made it hard to pick a side between the different people. I also think that she was she was trying to make it difficult for the viewer to pick a side. There wasn’t a lot of information that you could trust was true to rely on a side. I think this film was a good way to show the different reactions from both sides and how it affected the accident. I believe if race weren’t such a big problem in this accident, it would not have been such a big deal. I enjoyed watching this film and still find it difficult to pick a side.
