Last Days of Summer #1

The book: The Last Days of Summer was a book that was written all in letters, notes, grade reports, magazine articles, and reviews. This is the first time I have read a book that was written like this and so far it has been my favorite. I think that this way is a better and easier way to read this book. You are able to find out so many facts and information that you wouldn’t normally in a regular book. This book goes deeper into the fact of making things stick out, such as Joey’s character. In the book you can tell that Joey has a really extravagant personality. You can tell that because of the letters that he sends to his crush, his grade reports, and his letters back and forth from his famous friend Charlie Banks. When Charlie and Joey become close friends, the author really makes a good point at showing emotions between the two. The author also makes the letters relevant to letters later in the book so you have to pay close attention and pay attention to all of the details. When Joey and his doctor have conversations together, I think it helps me a lot to understand Joey’s personality and the way Joey really does hurt and is getting bullied pretty bad. My favorite letters are probably the ones back and forth from Charlie and Joey. You can tell from the first time they write to each other and the last time they write to each other that they build a really strong relationship like brothers. The relationship between Joey and Charlie really bring a lot of people close together and it really allows Joey to meet all of these famous people that Charlie are friends with. The way the author writes this book is amazing. He knows how to create and establish the characters. Also, I love the comedy of the book. Some very funny parts are when Joey’s grade report comes out and you can se the comments between the teacher and Joey’s mother and Aunt Carrie. Also, you find the emotion between Joey and his father very bland. They barley talk to each other and it really bothers Joey. That is why Joey and Charlie become so close because Joey is missing a father figure in his life. I think the author does a very good job at showing how good of a father Charlie could be to Joey and how he sticks up for him when he needs it. I think that this book is one of the best books I have ever read so far and will enjoy reading it as many times as I can. It has made 4 now! I really enjoy this book and how the author writes it! : )
