Equiano and Venture Smith!

Equiano and Venture Smith seemed to have a lot of similarities and a lot of differences. They both lived a similar childhood when they were children but when they were sold into slavery, their lives changed. Equiano and Venture Smith bot got taken from their villages differently for slavery. Equiano was taken from his village as if no one ever saw him leave or as a big deal. Venture Smith was taken from his village from an attack to his village. Equiano was held from going straight to America for slavery. He was moved around all of Africa and then finally went to America. On the other hand, Venture Smith went to America right away with the other slaves. He was put to work right when he got there.
A difference between the two was how Equiano was very religious and his village rituals were very important to him. The rituals consisted of singing and coming together. Equiano also believed that you won’t go to heaven unless you get baptized.
Equiano and Venture smith had no sense of reading or writing when they were growing up so they had to learn everything by themselves. Both of them realized what was needed to learn and they accomplished it. They felt like showing off that they could write and to them it felt good. It had a feeling of equality by showing the slave owners they could read and write.
In the end, Equiano and Venture Smith had completely reverse lives. When Venture Smith finally gained his freedom, he bought other slaves for himself. He liked the power he got from actually owning a slave. Venture Smith finally realized what it felt like to have as much power and rich. Equiano did not buy slaves after he was a slave.
